SPECIAL PROGRAMS & EVENTS

Friday, March 31st @ 10:00 a.m. | Musical Story time with the Pineland Suzuki School
The Pineland Suzuki School has partnered with the Lithgow Public Library for a Musical Story Time in place of our usual story time on Friday, March 31st, at 10am. Join Ben and the youth strings musicians from the for a 30 minute story time supported by musical interludes! All ages are welcome.

Wednesday, April 5th @ 10:00 a.m. | Safety Story Time with KVCAP
April is Child Abuse Prevention month, and to recognize this, Lithgow Library has partnered with the Family Enrichment Council of KVCAP and a member of law enforcement to bring us a special story time in place of our regular Family Story Time about safety and happy child development. All ages are welcome.

Wednesday, April 19th @ 10:00 a.m. | Wildfire Prevention Story Time with MFS
The Maine Forest Service has partnered with the Lithgow Library to bring us a special story time in place of our regular Family Story about Wildfire Prevention, featuring Smokey the Bear and a Forest Ranger who will read the stories! All ages are welcome.


WEEKLY PROGRAMS

NEW PROGRAM! Mondays @ 10:00 a.m. – 12:00pm | Social Play Date
Every Monday Youth Services will have the Story-time room doors open and our toddler toys out for two hours of self-led play, coloring, and socializing with any families that would like to gather. (All ages are welcome, though our toys are best suited for infants and toddlers.)

Tuesdays @ 10:00 a.m. | Toddler Time
Our lap sit program helps your child (age 1-3) develop language and literacy skills by singing songs, sharing books, and learning nursery rhymes, while interacting with other children and caregivers.

Wednesdays @ 10:00 a.m. | Family Story Time
A weekly program that readies your child (age 3-7) for school by sharing stories, educational activities and art projects. For children and their caregivers.

Thursdays @ 10:00 a.m. | Thoughtful Thursday Play
Come join us as we share stories, songs, and fun for children (age 3-7) with their parents or caregivers. Thoughtful Thursdays are all about exploring topics like identifying & managing feelings, learning techniques to focus & calm down, expressing gratitude, and more. Calming activities include yoga, mindful breathing, and arts & crafts.

Thursdays @ 3:00 p.m. | LEGOs at the Library
Free-form LEGO build for children (age 5 and older).

Fridays @ 10:00 a.m. | Incredible Infants Story Time
A weekly program for babies (birth to 18 months) and their parents or caregivers. Join us for 30 minutes of stories, rhymes, motion, and song to help promote the foundations of early literacy. 


MONTHLY PROGRAMS

1st Monday of the month @ 6:00 p.m. | Rockin’ Readers
A book group for curious readers age 8 to 12. Parents are welcome to join. Call the library to see what we are reading next and how to get a copy.

 

1st Monday of the month @ 7:00 p.m. | Avid Readers
A book group for kids 11 & 12 who enjoy challenging books. Call the library to see what we are reading next and how to get a copy.

1st Wednesday of the month (October – May) @ 6:00 p.m. | Food For Thought
Children 3 to 8 with an adult are invited to share books, recipes, food, and fun! For this program, each child and parent sign-up to host one session where they: choose food-related books for the group to read together; bring the food as a snack to share; discuss the books and/or recipes; and provide a related activity.

NEW PROGRAM! 2nd Monday of the month from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. | STEAM Kids
Join Ben for a new monthly program geared toward ages 5 to 8 where we will get creative exploring and experimenting ideas relating to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics!

2nd Friday of the month 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. | Barks and Books
Read books to a gentle therapy dog from Love on a Leash. Geared for children under the age of 13

3rd Monday of the month | Fold at Home Origami
Pick up colorful square paper at Youth Services and then follow along with Ben to make some exciting origami creations! Video instructions will be posted on our Facebook and Youtube pages alongside the Take & Make crafts.

 

3rd Wednesday of the month @ 6:00 p.m. | Tween Scene
A different themed activity each month for tweens ages 8 to 12. Themes vary from book based programs, to educational topics, to just plain fun!
